Five Safety Tips for Storing Luggage at the Airport

    By JakeOctober 27, 2022No Comments5 Mins Read

Traveling can be stressful for a whole slew of reasons. From rushing to make sure that you make your flight on time, to finding the right gate, to dressing appropriately for not just form and function, but also comfort. The last thing you want to have to worry about while trudging through the airport to make your flight is the security of your personal belongings. Afterall, when you’re flying you have some seriously sensitive and high-priority items with you. Namely, your passport, your wallet with your ID and payment cards, any spending cash you’ve brought along with your trip, and not to mention your laptop, other electronics, and all the clothes you’re planning to wear while traveling.

You don’t want to have your passport go missing or get stolen, and you shouldn’t have to worry about someone sneaking your laptop out of its case, either. To give yourself a little bit of peace of mind while you travel and to amp up your personal-security, follow these safety and security tips when traveling through airports.

    1. Luggage Locks

One of the simplest ways you can protect the interior contents of your luggage, backpack, and other zippable bags is with a luggage lock. Luggage locks are convenient and easy to use, but add an entire layer to the personal security of your luggage. A luggage lock typically locks the zippers on the suitcase together, making them impossible to separate without a clipping device of some sort.

There are a variety of luggage locks on the market and they vary in design. Some require a code to be entered, while others are simply keyed manual locks. Once again, these are easy to install on any suitcase or piece of luggage and make it much more difficult for someone to get ahold of your things.

    2. Keeping Your Belongings Close By

Another good security tip to keep in mind when traveling through an airport is to keep your belongings nearby. You don’t want to stray too far from your suitcases or other pieces of luggage as someone could easily walk by and swipe whatever you’ve left alone. Even if you’re going to use the restroom, you should physically bring your luggage into the bathroom with you. This way you don’t ever have to let your luggage out of your sights, and you can always have a good hold on your possessions.

Even if you’re going to get a quick coffee after you’ve found your gate, you should either try to go to a stand or kiosk within viewing distance of your luggage, or better yet, if it isn’t too cumbersome, just bring your luggage with you to the coffee, drink, or snack stand you’re attending. You’ll be much less likely to lose track of your luggage if you simply keep it attached to your hip like the pants you wear on your legs. This will also make you a more difficult person to target for any malicious individuals that may be prowling the airport.

    3. Don’t Leave Laptops or Phones Unattended

In the same way you don’t want to leave your luggage unattended, you shouldn’t leave a laptop or phone sitting out either. Many people like to get a little bit of work done while they’re waiting at the airport for their flight. However, even if you’re getting a bit of work done, you don’t want to concentrate so hard that you forget where you are and get up to go do something without taking your laptop or phone with you.

These valuable electronics will attract a lot of attention if let out unattended for too long, and you could very likely walk back to an empty table. Be cautious with your high-value electronics and don’t leave them out if you aren’t going to be right there to guard them.

    4. Traveling With a Group

Solo travel isn’t always avoidable, but traveling with a group can make the whole experience a lot safer by nature. The buddy system may sound a little silly at times, but even having one person to travel with you can make it a lot easier to protect belongings and keep guard while grabbing snacks, using the restroom, or handling any other business while traveling.

It’s long been known that there is safety in numbers. This is especially the case for young women who are traveling.

    5. Luggage Storage Options

No matter where you’re off to, there are other options to keep your luggage safe too. For example, luggage storage in Venice allows you to lock up your belongings so you can explore freely without the burden of carrying your luggage around. Not only that, but luggage storage in Venice will also keep your hands, and your mind, free if you need to eat or grab a drink between flights while you wait.

There are many ways to make use of luggage storage in Venice that can enhance your trip, and keep your things safe at the same time. If you’re looking for a really secure option, luggage storage in Venice, or anywhere else, could be the way for you to go.

    A few Final Thoughts

No matter where you’re traveling or how long you’ll be gone, keep your luggage security a top priority with luggage storage in Venice and other major destinations, luggage locks, and the other luggage security tips outlined above.
